finaly
will regular PvE characters be playable in the factions PvE world? and if they are playable, will the missions and quests be completed when you get factions later if you complete them in the event?
Now if you can play with them and get a nice drop u get the item automaticly (which would be locigal as u can import ur character from GW to factions), is that the same thing as playing with a factions character get a good drop and hand it to another character?
in other words, if they aren't playalbe, this means that everyone has to make a new character

this info is allready on the FPE FAQ.
you cant travel to/from catha you dont have storage,guild hall access.
so yea you have to start a new charector for the event that will get whiped after the event and starting a dummy account just to test has only 1 limitation and that is you dont keep your unlocks, but if you dont allready havea pvp slot i dont see how that really matters.

Well all the event characters will be deleted/reset anyway, so the character is useless anyway. The only answer for anyone is fun? experiment?

So, essentially we can unlock 20 skills for each proffesion by making a RP char, say ritualist, taking an assassin secondary, delete that char, makie another ele/mes for example, get another 20 etc etc etc. I hope to god that some of the base skills are unlocked quick so i can get right into pvp with Assassins and ritualist.

15 areas and 2 missions to play - not too bad. I'm looking forward to trying it and am hopeful many of the "bad" concerns of mine will be removed.
You could add in the 2 competitive missions if you enjoy PvP; the competitive missions (if they are the ones in the videos we keep seeing on the net) look to be PvP mini-games with score being the basis rather than kills. It's still PvP though, you might be playing against the AI, but it's goal is still to beat out another team, so it's just another flavor of PvP. Golf and Car racing are all good examples of players competiting against each other with the courses being the challenge, they are still competing againt each other (player vs player) though.
Gaile, can we have an answer to Ken Dai's post by any chance? Please? The issues of locked content (ala more Favor based ideas) is stopping me from purchasing Factions. If you could maybe explain (in a non-fuzzy FAQ based way) how it works, many of us would be greatful. Thanks.

Those are some threads where the issues of locked up content is a major concern for players. I'm sure there are more, but those are two I could find quickly.

FPE = Free Preview Event. It's not a head start. It's a sneak peak at Factions. I think Gaile was pretty clear over the whole balance thing. It's not that difficult to grasp. Your solution is pretty simple. Just don't play.

My interpretation of the small tidbits of information that we have received so far is that there will be a war line on the map showing which territories are control be each faction (Luxon or Kurzick). The only way that the war, and thus control of areas, would be unbalanced is if one faction had the majority of players.
Top ranked guilds won't create imbalance if they all support the same faction because, as it has been said before, the control of areas is not just based on PvP. As a lot of the top ranked guilds tend to have a smaller guild of players that concentrate on PvP, the shear number of lower ranked guilds with more players that prefer to PvE more should bring balance to the war. Well, thats my presumption anyway.

question to anyone, for the faction weekend, its only pvp characters right? or "roleplaying" characters that are lvl 20 already. and! as for armors, are they the only armors that we actually see RIGHT NOW when we create pvp characters, only available?
-is this going to work like pvp character creation, but with a wider range of "things to do" or a completely different setup/map functions?

Basically for the event we get 20 primary and 20 secondary skills, right? My question is can we use core and prophecies skills we have already unlocked?

I don't think those 20 starting skills will be unlocked for you. I think just like the pre-made PvP templates, you can use those skills with the template, but those skills are still locked for your account until you unlock through PvE or faction points.

However, these limitations dont stop you from trading to a guildmate, then coming back with a Tyrian character and taking the item back. It may be a good idea just to disable trade for the factions characters.

How would you manage this, exactly? As a newly-created Factions character, you will only be able to interact with other Factions characters. At all.

New faces & hair for old characters?
I see there's some new hairstyles and things for the old classes in the screenshots that are going around - are these only available to new characters? Can I take my character to the hairdresser please? pretty please? with a cherry on top? I feel like a change
